Our History

We purchased the property for Camp Shedhorn, now home of The Northern Navetta, in 1997 and started construction of a cabin and developed three ponds. Our 30-acre location also has a trail system surrounded by Ottawa National Forest.

The property was so nice that we shared it with friends and family, using it to host annual parties. These get-togethers grew from 20 people to over 200. We also started with one guitar player to provide live entertainment. Eventually, we got three bands to play. In addition, we offer wagon rides on our trail system. Our friends say that visiting our property is the highlight of their summer.

These yearly parties gave us the idea to construct a wedding barn. In November 2020, our family and friends cleared the land and built a two-story barn. What makes the structure unique is that there is a skywalk connecting the second story of the barn to a two-story pavilion.

The Northern Navetta also has ponds with docks and a covered bridge that serves as a wedding spot or the setting for stunning photo opportunities.
